CITY OF BELOIT, Wis. (WIFR) – A 15-year-old girl is treated for a head injury after police say she was injured car surfing.

Beloit police say it happened in the 1300 block of Grant Street just after noon on Sunday. They say the teen girl was taken to the emergency room as a precaution for some scrapes and a minor head injury.

Investigators say the girl and other teens were car surfing or riding on the side and back of a moving car. They say when the driver turned the car around, the 15-year-old girl fell and hit her head.

The 16-year-old boy driving the car was cited for reckless driving causing bodily harm and no insurance.

Police say the girl was taken to UW hospital for further follow-up as a precaution. They say she has non-life-threatening injuries.

Beloit police say to keep kids safe; parents should have a conversation with their kids about the risks of falling from a vehicle, even one moving slowly.
