ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A new partnership from Swedish American is looking to help provide healthcare for those who need it most regardless of their health insurance or ability to pay.
The new partnership with Aunt Martha's community health center will provide an onsite clinic which would offer mental health and primary care services.
The clinic hopes to cut down on non- emergency related ER visits which are 15 percent higher in Winnebago County than the rest if Illinois, increasing costs on local tax payers.
"So with Aunt Martha's being here on site they will provide us with a way to more appropriately care for folks who don't have a primary care home. They can help provide that and maybe diminish some of that need to use the ER as their primary care doctor."
The clinic is expected to open in the Spring.
