Superhero Sprint 5k raises money for new Autism center

Belvidere, Ill. (WIFR) More than 300 runners raced to raise money and awareness in this year's Superhero Sprint 5k at Belvidere Park.

All proceeds from the race will benefit the Superhero Center for Autism, a new facility in the works to provide better resources and services to children and adults living with special needs in the Rockford area.

"This 5k is one of our two big fundraisers every year and last year we were able to raise enough money and this year, we're just adding to our total," said Jamie Dornink, President of the Superhero Center for Autism. "We're hoping to find a building within the next few months and get it open sooner than later."
