Students host prom dance for Wesley Willows residents

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Prom season is right around the corner but for some special seniors they got to take part in the special dance Saturday thanks to some local high school students.

The Rockford Public Schools Superintendent Student Advisory Council brought Sin City to Wesley Willows for a special prom night for its residents. This is the second year the students have put on the prom where the seniors eat dinner, listen to the band, watch magic tricks and of course dance the night away.

"I'm really proud of the students. They're amazing individuals and they're passionate. They did all the table decorations and so they've worked diligently to bring something special to touch the people's lives here,” said executive assistant to the chief of communications for Rockford Public Schools Angela Lundin.

Lundin says the prom allows the students to interact with the residents, learn something new and have fun giving back to those in our community.
