Stateline teen works to make modeling, acting dreams real life

BELVIDERE, Ill. (WIFR) -- Many of us don't know what career path we'll fall into until we're older and off to college. But for one local teen it was clear from the start.

Tori Siverio is a 14-year-old actress and model from Belvidere who aspires to make it on the big screen one day -- and that day may be closer than she thinks.

Siverio is invited to attend the International Model and Talent Association (IMTA) convention in Los Angeles this January.

There, she'll be given the opportunity to compete with others her age in front of 350 talent agencies.

Siverio says she hopes one day she'll be able to use her platform to encourage other girls to go after what seems impossible.

"Hearing all these hurtful things people say, like I'll never be a model, and stuff like that -- it does push me further because it makes me want to prove them wrong. It makes we want to look at them some day and say, 'Look where I am now. I am a model. I officially succeeded in achieving my dreams,'" said Siverio.

She says she needs the public's help for fees associated with the convention, including flight costs, coaching fees and other trainings.
