UPDATE: South Beloit woman killed in single car accident identified

SOUTH BELOIT, Ill. (WIFR) -- The Winnebago County coroner releases the name of the woman killed Tuesday night after her car crashed into a tree.

Georgette Starns, 58, of South Beloit, lost control of her car at the intersection of Prairie Hill Road and South Bluff Street. The vehicle went down an embankment and into the woods, where it hit a tree.

Starns died from blunt force trauma to the head.


SOUTH BELOIT, Ill. (WIFR) - A South Beloit woman is killed when her car goes off the road and hits a tree.

The Winnebago County Coroner's Office says it happened just before 6 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Prairie Hill and South Bluff.

Investigators believe speed was not a factor.

The name of the woman has not been released at this time. The coroner says the woman was in her 50's.
