ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A local grocery store's bakery is recalling certain kinds of cake because they could pose an allergy risk.

Schnucks Bakery in St. Louis is warning that their Cinnamon Pudding Half Cakes and Cake Slices may contain walnuts that aren’t listed on the ingredient labels. Those with a nut allergy or severe sensitivity to walnuts could run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they eat the product.

The cakes were sold in all 100 Schnucks retail stores including those in Illinois and Wisconsin.

The recall covers the following products:
-Schnucks Bakery Half Cinnamon Pudding Cake; UPC: 2-52594-203999-6
-Schnucks Bakery Cinnamon Pudding Cake Slice; UPC: 2-52584-00199-1
-Schnucks Bakery Sliced Pudding Cake Tray (variety pack that includes the slices of the cinnamon cake); UPC: 2-52680-50999-5
For all three products, the sell-by dates are up to and including June 12, 2017, found on the product label directly below the price.

The company says they were alerted to the issue by a customer, although there have been no illness reports associated with consumption.

Anyone with the affected products are encouraged to return them to their nearest store for a full refund. Those with questions should contact the Schnucks Consumer Affairs Department at 314-994-4400, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
