UPDATE: Rockford woman killed in Marengo car crash identified

UPDATE: MARENGO, Ill. (WIFR) - The McHenry County Coroner's Office says the woman killed in a one-car crash in Marengo over the weekend is 29-year-old Ilian Gonzalez, of Rockford.

The coroner says Gonzalez died from blunt force trauma to the head.

MARENGO, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Rockford woman has died after being involved in a single car crash with a drunk driver last night in Marengo.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office says a Rockford man and woman were driving in the 17600 block of Kishwaukee Valley Road in Marengo around 7:30 Saturday night when their car crashed into a tree. Police say the 29-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, 30-year-old Jose Loredo was arrested and charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving under the influence. He was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say they cannot release the name of the woman at this time.

Loredo is considered innocent until proven guilty.
