ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - For many who knew him, the death of Rockford police Officer Jaimie Cox is still fresh. Now, an old employer is finding a new way to spread his memory throughout the country.

Trucking company Meiborg Brothers Inc. created a truck with Cox's name, end of watch date and a blue line in his honor.

Before beginning his career in law enforcement, Cox worked at Meiborg as a shop foreman. Division manager John Wiederholt says he wants the truck to send a special message about who Cox was as it makes trips throughout the U.S.

"Jaimie's memory and the symbolism behind the trailer will reach every corner of the United States so it's just a way to humbly remember the sacrifices made by not only our family members here at Meiborg but the community and the country as a whole," says Meiborg Brothers Division Manager John Wiederholt.

Owner Zach Meiborg also started a fundraiser to help purchase dashcams for each of the Rockford Police Department squad cars.
