Rockford police searching for suspect in domestic violence incident

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A Rockford man is wanted following a domestic violence incident that occurred around 8 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2018 in the 100 block of Lexington Avenue.

22-year-old James Smith-Johnson allegedly battered an adult woman who he previously had a relationship with. Police say James forced his way inside the home and the woman suffered minor injuries because of the incident.

After an investigation from the Domestic Violence Unit, the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Smith-Johnson with home invasion, aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery and criminal trespassing.

A warrant was obtained for Smith-Johnson’s arrest and his bond is set at $150,000.

He is considered innocent until proven guilty.
