Rockford man shot and beaten during home invasion

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - A Rockford man takes himself to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries following a home invasion.

Rockford police say they met with the shooting victim at the hospital around 9 a.m. Thursday.

The victim says two men tried to come into his home in the 2700 block of 21st Street when they began beating him and shot him in the shoulder.

The victim says the two men drove away in a light purple Chevrolet HHR. He describes them as a thin white man wearing a dark ski mask and carrying a gun and a thin Hispanic man with a full beard, glasses and a gun.
