Rockford man arrested on drug and weapons charges

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - A Rockford man is arrested after deputies say they found him with cannabis and a loaded gun.

The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office says 26-year-old Vance Adams was stopped just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the area of South Alpine Road and Upland Drive.

A deputy performed a pat-down after smelling cannabis coming from Adams' car.

Investigators say 3.7 grams of cannabis was found during the pat-down and a loaded 9 mm Smith & Wesson handgun.

Adams is charged with possession of cannabis (less than 10 grams) and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

Adams is considered innocent until proven guilty.
