Rockford man arrested after allegedly trying to steal a car

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - A 20-year-old Rockford man is arrested for allegedly trying to steal a woman's car in a grocery store parking lot.

Rockford police say it happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday in the Schnucks parking lot in the 3100 block of 11th Street.

The victim told officers that she was sitting in her car when a man opened the door, tried to pull her out and punched her in the face.

Investigators say a K-9 tracked Kenneth Latin Jr. to a home 2900 block of Kinsey Street where he was arrested.

Latin is charged with attempted vehicular hijacking, vehicular invasion, aggravated battery, resisting a police officer and criminal trespassing. He is considered innocent until proven guilty.
