Local mail carrier retires after 50 years

LOVES PARK, Ill. (WIFR) – A local postal worker is hanging up the mail bag after delivering letters for 50 years.

Family, friends, and postal officials recognized Frank Loebach for his dedicated service on Friday. Loebach started his career back in 1966 and has seen many changes in the Rockford area including the post office becoming the United States Postal Service. Frank says he has a lot of memories with his colleagues and those he delivered to every day.

"I had another young lady who needed a liver transplant. And she was getting cards all the time and packages and I'd take them up daily. There would be big handfuls and it made her day. That's what it's all about,” recalls Loebach.

Even though Frank won’t be delivering mail anymore, he actually lives on his normal route so he’ll still get to see the neighbors he served for all those years.

We wish Frank all the best with his retirement.
