ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - SwedishAmerican says its renovated heart institute will improve the care for the patients suffering from heart disease.

The newly renovated Swedes Heart Institute now includes 20 exam rooms, an x-ray room and a renovated lab.

Cardiologists say the expansion gives doctors an opportunity to treat patients quickly to help them recover.

"This is great because it lets us see patients with heart disease where multiple doctors can work at the same time and be able to take care of many patients and hopefully help them with their heart disease," said Dr. Mazen Hadid.

Doctors say it is a fitting time to open the renovated institute because February marks American Heart Month which raises awareness about heart disease.
