ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Rockford firefighter is taken to a local hospital after falling through the floor during a house fire in the 1200 block of 15th Avenue around 4:30 a.m. Saturday.
Rockford Fire say they were called for a vacant two family structure fire. The Department says they were able to put out the fire on outside of the building quickly, but while working on the hot spots inside, a firefighter fell through the floor receiving injuries to the ribs and shoulder.
Officials say the firefighter has been released from the hospital.
The Department says the building was a total loss, so it was demolished on Saturday. The cause of the fire is unknown.
