UPDATE: Man wanted in connection with February murder involved in accident in Rockford

UPDATE: ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Rockford police say 24-year-old Shawnqual Layne is with officers at a Rockford hospital.

Investigators say Layne was involved in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Jefferson and Main after running from police.

Police say the chase started as they tried to arrest Layne on warrants. He is wanted on two counts of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon in the February death of Brandon Taylor.

Police say once Layne is treated for his injuries and released he will be transported to the Winnebago County Jail.

Two other men, 26-year-old Domonique Walker and 36-year-old Tyrone Pearson also face gun charges in connection to the deadly shooting in the 1100 block of Cunningham Street.

The coroner says Taylor was shot and killed at the home while an Elgin man was also injured in the shooting.

UPDATE: ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Rockford police are looking for 24-year-old Shawnqual Layne who is wanted on two counts of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

Police say Layne is wanted in relation to the murder of 20-year-old Brandon Taylor, of Rockford.

Investigators say on February 15, Taylor was shot and killed at a party in the 1100 block of Cunningham Street. A second man, 22-year-old Jaylen Clemons, of Elgin, had non-life threatening wounds.

Officers say 26-year-old Domonique Walker and 36-year-old Tyrone Pearson have been charged with unlawful use of weapons by a felon, one count for Walker and two counts for Pearson.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- The Winnebago County Coroner's Office has identified the man killed in an early morning shooting on Rockford's west side as 20-year-old Brandon Taylor.

Investigators say shots were fired in the 1100 block of Cunningham Street around 2:00 a.m. The Coroner's Office says Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim was also taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday. The death is still under investigation.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - A 20-year-old man is dead after an overnight shooting.

Rockford police say it happened at 2 A.M. in the 1100 block of Cunningham Street. They say a 20-year-old man was pronounced dead after being shot. About a block away, a 22-year-old man was found shot. He was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the deceased is not being released until the family is notified.
