ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Hundreds of Rockford Christian School students come together to make sure Rockford's homeless are not forgotten this holiday season.
Students collected items throughout the year including warm clothing and distributed them at the 31st annual Christmas party for Rockford's homeless.
Organizers say that participation in the celebration has been growing each year and that this is a way for students to experience community involvement outside of the classroom setting.
"It's all part of getting them into the process of stepping outside of themselves and learning that there's a much bigger world out there than just their own little life and getting them to get out there and demonstrate the love of Christ," says Rockford Christian Schools director of admissions Traci Larson.
The Christmas party for Rockford's homeless is part of a live-2-give service project that the entire school community participates in every Christmas season.
