ROCHELLE, Ill. (WIFR) – Visit Downtown Rochelle on Friday December 2nd for the Annual Old Fashioned Christmas Walk.
Santa will be at the Flagg Township Museum from 4:00-8:00pm the evening of December 2. The Flagg Township Museum will decorate a special place for Santa Claus to meet with children and hear their wishes for Christmas. There is no charge to enter the museum and visit Santa. Children are encouraged to bring their letters to give to Santa Claus.
Horse and Carriage rides are returning to the Old Fashioned Christmas Walk this year. Rides will run from 4-7pm and pickup is at the Flagg Township Museum.
New to the event is a Christmas Market featuring Arts, Crafts & Vendors inside the Living Waters Community Church located at 405 N. Main Street. The market will be open from 4-8pm on Friday December 2nd and from 9am-2pm on Saturday December 3rd. The market will feature a bake sale, dinner Friday evening and lunch Saturday.
The VFW Women’s Auxiliary will hold a Craft & Vendor show on Friday from 4-8pm and Saturday from 8-4pm. Proceeds benefit the VFW Women’s Auxiliary Scholarship Fund.
Watch as local businesses and organizations roll through the Downtown with Holiday themed vehicles beginning at 5:30pm for the Lighted Parade. This year’s theme is “Light up the Night”. The parade is sponsored by LULAC. To register, contact Adriana Milan at City Hall – 561-2063. The parade travels through the Downtown and ends at City Hall for the Community Tree Lighting.
On the City Hall front lawn following the parade, Santa will light the Community Tree and the Middle School Chorus will sing carols. The Annual Gratitude Award will be given to a deserving member of the community following the tree lighting.
The 11th Annual Christmas Tree Festival is open at City Hall from 4:30 to 6:30 Friday evening, with bidding coming to a close at 6:30 sharp. Attendees will be able to find the perfect gift or decoration for the home at the Festival with tabletop trees, gift baskets, wreaths, centerpieces, and more available for silent auction. All proceeds from the silent auction benefit both the Hub City Senior Center and the Kitchen Table. Warm beverages and Cliff’s donuts will be served.
Plenty of good food will be available throughout the downtown Friday night! The Rochelle Fire Department will be serving up their festival-famous pork chop sandwiches and the Masonic Temple will be serving a chili & soup dinner.
All ages are invited to warm up at the Hub City Senior Center with dinner, dessert & drinks. The fun starts at 4:30pm and ends at 7:30pm. Enjoy live Christmas music in a fun and festive atmosphere. Order tickets now by calling 562-5050.
The Library will once again hold an Open House the evening of the Annual Downtown Christmas Walk. Entertainment for the evening will be Mike Schneider and his PintSize Polkas. Enjoy Christmas and other favorites with polka flair. Doors open at 6:15 and the program begins at 6:30. Enjoy music, treats and other fun by the Christmas tree. The night is designed for the whole family. All ages are welcome.
On Saturday December 3rd, the Library invites all ages to attend a complimentary showing of the movie “Snow Dogs” from 2-4pm. Enjoy free popcorn and lemonade. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Santa will visit the VFW to enjoy Breakfast with families on Sunday December 4th from 8-11am. The cost is just $5 and includes a photo with Santa.
