Roads closed surrounding Hanley Furniture building as clean up continues

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- As crews continue to clean up the damage from the old Hanley Furniture building, roads around that area are closed until further notice.

The City of Rockford says due to the emergency clean up efforts following Sunday's fire, surrounding roads will be closed including:
-Chestnut St. (US Business Route 20 Eastbound) from Church St. to Wyman St.
-South Main St. from Elm St. to Green St.
-South Main St. (IL Route 2 Northbound) at Cedar St.

The detour route for South Main IL Route 2 North traffic will be Morgan St./College Ave. east to Kishwaukee St. Then north on Kiswaukee St./3rd St. to Jefferson St., west on Jefferson St. returning to Wyman St. IL Route 2 North.

The detour route for Chestnut St.(US Business 20) eastbound will be South Church St. (IL Route 2) south to Cedar St., east on Cedar St. to South Main St., south on South Main to Morgan St., east on Morgan St./College Ave. to Kishwaukee St., north on Kishwaukee St. to Walnut St. (US Business 20 eastbound).

The city says traffic will remain open to the Rockford Park District Webbs Norman Center, BMO Harris Bank, and local downtown businesses.

Road closures may change around the clean-up area.
