ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Folks at Rockford University put on their hard hats, protective glasses, and busted a few beakers, kicking off renovations inside its science center.
The $1.2 million project will upgrade Rockford’s Starr Science Center to include enhanced classrooms and lecture halls as well as new scientific equipment. The project will benefit students in the college of science, mathematics, and nursing.
The renovation is all part of the University’s $17 million Rock Solid and Ready Campaign, revamping many different aspects of the school.
This is the most extensive remodel of the campaign. the other building element of the campaign is an athletic and event center but that will be a brand new building so this is bringing this classroom's building up into the 21st Century,” says Rockford University President Eric Fulcomer.
Construction is expected to wrap up before the regular school year kicks off in August.
