ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- It's a state-of-the-art opportunity for local college students to get the skills they need to launch an engineering career in Rockford.
Rock Valley College's Woodward Technology Center is now open for students.
The program, which started in August, allows students like Brandon Dhuse to earn their bachelor's degree in engineering from NIU by taking classes all the their RVC campus.
Dhuse is from Machesney Park, so it's convenient, and the program has already earned dividends for Dhuse who has just earned a paid internship with Greenlee Textron.
"Rockford was founded on manufacturing and it's sad to see that some companies in town have recently closed and we need to bring that back", says Dhuse. "I definitely recommend the launch program at Rock Valley College. I've been in it a while now and I really enjoy my time in it I definitely would recommend it."
Students in the program will also have opportunities for hands on learning at companies like Woodward and UTC Aerospace.
