Parents become target of Fingerling scam

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - This year's hot Christmas toy, Fingerlings, are at the center of an online scam according to the Better Business Bureau.

The BBB says since the popular finger-puppet monkeys are sold out in most stores, people are going online and running into scammers. They say 20 reports of scams have come in within the last two months.

Shoppers report not being able to contact the company they buy from by phone or email when their order doesn't come. Some people receive counterfeit toys and are told a refund is impossible.

The BBB says to avoid being scammed this holiday season only buy from reputable retailers, look out for unreasonably low prices and be cautious with your personal information.
