Organization offering flooding relief

PEARL CITY, Ill. (WIFR) --- One local organization is still working to collect donations for pearl city flood victims months after the waters devastate their small town.

The Pearl City American Legion has collected around ten-thousand dollars for victims so far, and they aren't ready to stop yet.

They will be collecting donations until October, and will put all of that money towards flood relief.

Many homes had to be evacuated because of the flood waters. The American Legion has provided multiple meals for flood victims since the flood happened.

"Pearl City people have been really tremendous with this flood stage. It's probably one of the better ones that I've seen in the last. Since 2002. So we've have a good relationship with the community," says Pearl City American Legion Historian, Roger Jacobs.

Route 20 Bar and Grill will be hosting a fundraiser Monday from 4-8 pm. All of those donations will go straight to Pearl City flood victims.
