UPDATE: Woman killed in Polo car accident identified

UPDATE: POLO, Ill. (WIFR) -- The Lee County coroner confirms the name of the Polo woman killed in Monday's two-car accident.

Sarah Johnson, 26, was unconscious when she was extricated from the vehicle. She later died in the emergency room from internal injuries.

Johnson was 29 weeks pregnant. Her unborn child also died in the crash.

Her husband, Daryl Johnson, 27, is a member of the Polo Fire Protection District.

Darryl and their 3-year-old daughter were taken to Rockford Memorial with serious injuries.

POLO, Ill. (WIFR) -- A two-car crash kills one and injures several others.

Ogle County Sheriff's Office says the accident happened around 3:45 p.m. Monday.

A car driving northbound on Illinois Route 26, lost control in the snowy conditions. Officials say the vehicle slid into the southbound lane, where it crashed into a pickup truck.

The three victims in the car - a 27-year-old male, a 26-year-old female and a 3-year-old female - were extricated and taken to KSB Hospital in Dixon. The 26-year-old female died overnight.

The driver of the pickup truck, along with a 5-year-old male, 2-year-old female and a 7-month-old female, were taken to KSB Hospital for minor injuries.

Multiple agencies were called to the scene. One viewer said traffic was backed up for at least an hour. The crash remains under investigation.
