UPDATE: ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois announces an agreement with OSF Healthcare System.

The agreement will keep OSF hospitals in Blue Cross Blue Shield's PPO and BlueChoice networks.

OSF hospitals will still participate in their HMO network, and the OSF physician group will stay part of the BCBSIL physician network.

"We are pleased to have finalized a continuation of OSF Healthcare’s relationship with BCBSIL that ensures patients and families have in-network access to the treatments and services they need. We realize this situation caused concern for our patients and families, and appreciate the support and patience of local businesses and community leaders," says OSF Healthcare senior vice president of population health Randy Billings.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Starting in the new year, nearly all OSF Hospitals will no longer participate in the Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO network.

OSF HealthCare announced on its website starting January 1, 2018 all of its Illinois hospitals will be impacted, with the exception of Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton. OSF says the decision to no longer participate was caused by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois.

Blue Cross Commercial, BCBS PPO, all Blue Choice and EPO products will be included in the termination.

OSF says in its website posting, "It is our hope that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois will realize the value of having OSF HealthCare hospitals in its network for its members, and rescind its termination."

We have included a link to all PPO options with OSF HealthCare hospitals staring January 1, 2018.
