Northern Illinois University votes to freeze tuition rates

DEKALB, Ill. (WIFR) - Students at Northern Illinois University will not see their tuition rise in the fall.

The university's board of trustees voted to freeze tuition and lower student fees for the 2018-19 school year.

The board had kept the tuition the same since the 2015 school year saying it was, "committed to keeping NIU affordable."

Tuition will stand at $350 per credit hour and caps at just over $5,300 for full-time students.
