CHICAGO (WIFR) -- Mega Millions has been enhanced to help players win $1 million with better odds and higher starting jackpots.
The previous starting jackpot of $15 million has been increased to $40 million, and jackpots will grow faster overall.
In the redesigned game, players select five numbers from 1 to 70, and one Mega Ball number from 1 to 25. With the change, players will have a 1-in-24 chance of winning a prize. The redesigned game will debut on October 28 with the first drawing being on October 31. Tickets for the game will cost $2.
“Larger and faster-growing jackpots should spark enthusiasm in our players and provide more opportunities to create millionaires and raise money for education in Illinois," said Illinois Lottery Acting Director Greg Smith.
