Man suffers life-threatening injuries after a bar fight with juveniles

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A man suffers life-threatening injuries after getting battered during a bar fight with juveniles on Rockford’s Southside.

Officers were flagged down for an unconscious man who had been beaten up around 6 p.m. outside of a local bar in the 1200 block of Broadway.

Officers learned the man was inside the bar when a large group of juveniles opened the entrance door and yelled inside. The man left the bar to confront the juveniles. The victim was then surrounded by the juveniles and multiple people began to fight him leaving him unconscious. The man was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

"They've been kicking on my door opening the door yelling at my customers.they think it's funny they take off laughing. and i knew it was getting worse they tore my door up twice. I've had to have it fixed. they lately they've gotten to where they're threatening my customers," says Monkey Business owner Diana Young.

Young says the teens appear to be between the ages of 13 and 18. She says sometimes an adult claiming to be their uncle is with them.
