Update: Coroner identifies Rockford man, 60, hit by car

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A 60-year-old Rockford man has died, days after he was struck by a car on Harrison Avenue near Alpine Road.

Souh Ndoroum died from blunt force trauma to his head.

Investigators say Ndoroum was crossing the street around 6 p.m. when he was hit by the vehicle.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - A Rockford road was closed for 6 hours last night as police investigated the accident site where a 60-year-old man was hit by a car. That man is now fighting for his life at a local hospital.

Rockford Police say he was hit around 6 p.m. while crossing the street in the 4100 block of Harrison Avenue. The man was unresponsive when found at the scene. He was taken to a local hospital and is facing life-threatening conditions at this time.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle were not injured.

The Rockford Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the accident.

The man's name has not been released.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - A man is fighting for his life after being hit by a car on Rockford's southeast side. It happened Friday evening at the corner of Harrison and Alpine.

An employee at the nearby Fas Mart gas station says the man stopped in the store to get beer, then left the store and walked across the parking lot. The employee says he never saw him cross the street but did see the police show up moments later.

Police say the man has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The road will be closed for at least four more hours while officers investigate the scene.

There is no information on the driver of the car at this time.
