JANESVILLE, Wis. (WIFR) -- A Janesville man has been arrested after an attempt to take a police officer's gun.

On November 3 at around 7:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1300 block of Laramie Lane for a domestic disturbance. The suspect, Trevor Prevatt, lunged at one of the officers while they were talking to him in the hallway.

Officers deflected Prevatt and tried to verbally de-escalate the situation. Prevatt said he intended on taking the officer's gun, knew the type of gun the officers were carrying, and they would have to shoot him.

As he began counting down on his intent, Prevatt was shot with a taser and taken into custody without any other violence or injury.

Prevatt was arrested and taken to the Rock County Jail. His charges include:

Disorderly conduct/domestic violence
Attempting to disarm a police officer
