WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) - Rockford police say Winnebago County Sheriff's deputies arrested 31-year-old Ronn Stonecipher in Machesney Park Sunday night for allegedly shooting at two cars.

Investigators say two cars were hit by gunfire in the 3000 block of Bildahl Street just after 5 A.M. Sunday morning.

Witnesses to the shooting say someone in a van fired the shots then fled the scene. Officers found four .380 casings in the road.

At 6:30 A.M. Winnebago County Sheriff's deputies found a van matching the description of the van used during the shooting. Deputies talked to the van's owner in the 7400 block of Mildred Drive in Machesney Park.

After talking to the owner and someone who had been driving the van, deputies found a handgun matching the caliber of the bullets found on the scene wrapped in a ski mask.

Stonecipher was arrested with the charges of armed habitual offender and felon in possession of a firearm. He is innocent until proven guilty.
