Man & boy arrested in parking lot after apartment burglary

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A Rockford man and boy are arrested for a burglary at a vacant apartment.

Just after 1:00 a.m., officers were called to the apartment building in the 4800 block of Creekview Road in reference to a burglary in progress. When they arrived, they discovered that the apartment had been broken into. Officers then located the two male suspects inside a vehicle in the apartment building’s parking lot.

After an on-scene investigation, officers determined that 20-year-old Jacob Okeson and the 16-year-old juvenile male were responsible for the burglary. They were immediately taken into custody.

Okeson faces charges including burglary, possession of burglary tools and possession of alcohol by a minor. The 16-year-old boy is facing charges including burglary, possession of burglary tools and criminal damage to property.

The 16-year-old’s name is not being released due to his age.
