ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A local church is continuing to do their part to help these victims of hurricane Harvey.
Heartland Community Church on South Alpine is partnering with world vision to become a collection site for donations to send to Texas. World Vision is an international relief organization that works in communities that need resources or are affected by disasters.
World Vision has a warehouse in Chicago. Which is where Rockford's donations will go, then those donations will be sent to Texas.
"We'll be monitoring the ongoing relief efforts. And one of the things that i love about Heartland Community Church and the Rockford area in general is that we wanna bring hope and help to people for as long as it takes for them to help them get back on their feet. So we'll be paying attention to see how we can support ongoing relief efforts in the days that are ahead," says Heartland Community Church Lead Pastor, Josh Peigh.
Heartland Community Church will be collecting donations to send to Texas for the next ten days. They are looking for personal care items. Like diapers, shampoos, and toothbrushes, along with school supplies.
