CHICAGO, Ill. (WIFR) - The Illinois Equal Justice Foundation approves more than $2 million in grants for legal aid groups.

Nearly $300,000 of the money will go to Prairie Street Legal Services, which has an office in Rockford. The non-profit provides low-income people with representation on family, housing and consumer law issues in northern Illinois.

The $2.4 million in grants is made possible with funding from state appropriation for civil legal aid and settlement funds awarded to the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation by Attorney General Lisa Madigan.
