Large residential fire causes $275,000 worth of damage, total loss

BELOIT, Wis. (WIFR) – A large fire caused $275,000 worth of damage to a Beloit home this afternoon.

At around 2:37 p.m., the Beloit and Turtle Fire Departments went to 839 Erin Circle for a residential fire. Heavy smoke was reported by an off duty firefighter from blocks away from the home. Once they arrived, they found heavy fire and smoke on the backside of the 2,500 square foot home. A second fire was found at the neighbor’s house in a garden shed while firefighters began extinguishing the first one. It was quickly extinguished.

The main fire was extinguished at 5:49 p.m. and is considered a total loss with damages of approximately $275,000. The fire is still under investigation, but it is believed to be accidental.
