Kids explore science at Discovery Center's Astronomy Day

Rockford, Ill. (WIFR) Saturday's rainy weather brought perfect conditions to explore indoors at the Discovery Center Museum for Astronomy Day.

Kids could learn about the solar system, investigate the planets, moon and sun, and navigate constellations with a variety of activities. Discovery Center staff say this is a great way to have children be interactive, while also exploring the world of science.

"Astronomy Day is great for kids of all ages, because everybody loves to look at the sky," said Corinne Sosso, Education Director at the Discovery Center. "Kids loves space anyway, you ask any kid what they're excited about, they'll tell you astronauts, space, space science. So we're using that as a foundation, as a jumping off space, to get them interested in science."
