JANESVILLE, Wis. (WIFR) – For the first time in nearly 20 years, visitors to downtown Janesville will have two new places to stay.
The two hotels will be split. One will become a Marriot along the interstate while the other will sit in the heart of downtown as a four story, 53 room hotel with a restaurant and a pool. Economic developers say they expect both hotels to be complete by January of 2019. Right now, the city says their focus to bring more people downtown has led to foot traffic, but now they want to keep those people downtown to stay.
“Currently when you have weddings and events downtown, the facilities are having to direct people to the interstate,” says Dayna Sarver, Janesville Economic Developer.
Developers say they plan to break ground on the hotels in the spring of 2018.
