Janesville energy crews return from Florida

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WIFR) – More than 50 volunteers are home in Janesville following a relief mission. The men and women of Rock Energy Cooperative have been in Florida rebuilding with hurricane victims.

Crews returned from helping Irma victims rebuild their energy systems for the last week and a half. The volunteers spent their days and nights repairing downed power lines damaged from fallen trees from the hurricane’s high winds. They say the work was challenging, but it was all worth it to be able to help so many people.

“And everybody was really, really nice down there. I mean we had people stop, give us water, you know drinks. Anything that they had on hand they were giving to us. We had multiple, multiple people just stop in their cars and thank us for coming down,” says Justin Busfield of Rock Energy Cooperative

The volunteers came from more than a dozen electric cooperatives across Wisconsin.
