Illinois State Police warns of phone scams

ELGIN, Ill. (WIFR) -- Illinois State Police are warning us to file a report if we get a call telling us we're under criminal investigation and must pay $600 because of it.

ISP says that's a scam and reports many people throughout the state of Illinois are receiving an automated phone call from a man with a foreign accent demanding cash.

While police say the calls are coming from 847-608-3200, a number associated with them, the call is fake. If we receive a similar call, ISP says contact them at 847-294-4400 to file a report.
