House fire in Rockford displaces a family of three

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A fire started early this morning in a home in the 4200 block of Ostrander Road on the city’s east side.

The two adults and one child that live in the residence were able to evacuate safely around 3 a.m. The home is unlivable for the time being.

Cherry Valley, New Milford, North Park and the Rockford fire department all responded to the fire.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Illinois State Fire Marshal says the fire was accidental after preliminary investigations.
