UPDATE: Hononegah school board approves superintendent replacement

UPDATE: ROCKTON, Ill. (WIFR) -- Nearing the end of a career for current Hononegah Superintendent Lynn Gibson, the school board approves her replacement.

The Hononegah Community School District board votes 5-2 during a board meeting Wednesday night to approve Michael Dugan as the next Superintendent.

Dugan's contract will begin on July 1, 2018. That's one day after Superintendent Gibson's last day.

UPDATE: ROCKTON, Ill. (WIFR) - Less than two weeks before Hononegah Superintendent Lynn Gibson's last day, the school district announces her replacement.

The school board will recommend Michael Dugan at Wednesday night's meeting. The board says he was chosen for his "instructional leadership, skills, strength in raising student achievement and experience in strategic planning."

If approved, his three-year contract will begin on July 1. Dugan previously served assistant superintendent for secondary schools in the Decatur school district.

UPDATE: ROCKTON, Ill. (WIFR) - For the second time, Hononegah's superintendent search has been narrowed down to two candidates.

The board hopes to decide between Decatur Assistant Superintendent Michael Dugan and Dunlap School Principal Scott Adreon by July 1.

The two will begin a second round of interviews this week.

Back in January, an initial search to replace Dr. Lynn Gibson was narrowed down to two finalists. After second interviews neither was determined to be a perfect fit.

UPDATE: ROCKTON, Ill. (WIFR) - Hononegah School District says the search is back on for a new superintendent.

Earlier this month, two finalists, the superintendents of the Freeport and Deer Creek-Mackinaw school districts were interviewed for the job.

Hononegah says neither was the perfect fit. The school district hopes to have the new hire by July 1.

ROCKTON, Ill. (WIFR) -- The Hononegah School District is looking for a new superintendent as Lynn Gibson plans to retire at the end of the school year.

According to a Facebook post by Hononegah High School, the board is searching for Gibson's replacement.

Gibson became the superintendent in 2012. Before that she spent seven years as an administrator for the high school.

The school board will meet with the final two candidates for the position within the next two weeks.
