Holiday Hoopla begins at the Discovery Center

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Christmas may have been Monday, but the holiday celebration is just kicking off at the Discovery Center.

Before kids head back to school after New Year's, the Discovery Center is giving them a festive twist on math and science during its Holiday Hoopla. The museum becomes a post-holiday headquarters for hands-on learning.

Corinne Sosso, the museum's director of education and programs, says the Holiday Hoopla will keep kids in the spirit of the season leading up to New Year's Eve.

"We have more Legos than you know what to do with. We have a giant pit of Legos that you can just build to your heart's content. We have Play-Doh that smells like gingerbread. We're turning crayons into stained glass. The stuff we're doing here! We're stringing pasta into necklaces and bracelets that are beautifully colored," says Sosso.

Holiday Hoopla runs from 11:30 to 3:30 p.m. every day until Saturday, December 30. The price is included with admission to the museum.
