Highland Community College ends Wind Turbine Technician program

FREEPORT (WIFR) -- Those who want to get into jobs working on wind turbines won't learn those skills at Highland Community College anymore.

The school decided to end its Wind Turbine Technician program because of declining enrollment. HCC says last fall there weren't enough students for the introductory course.

The program was started in 2008 as wind farms popped up all around the region. Since then 70 students have completed degrees and certificates.

HCC says all students in their final semester will have the chance to complete the program in May.
