Freeport man arrested for January arson

FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) – Freeport police arrest a man for his suspected role in an arson fire that occurred back on Jan. 24 in the 300 block of West Moseley Street in Freeport.

24-year-old Daniel Ehlers, of Freeport, was arrested by Freeport police in a Chicago hospital and is suspected of setting his mother’s house on fire.

Ehlers is charged with residential arson fire and criminal damage of property.

His bond is set at $100,000.

The house was unable to be lived in after the fire and there were no injuries. The damage was estimated at about $30,000.

Ehlers is considered innocent until proven guilty.
