Four teenagers arrested for stealing car, had shotgun

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Four teenagers are arrested in the area near 14th Street and 19th Avenue for stealing a car.

Police say they were called to 14th Street and 19th Avenue for reports of a stolen car around 8:45 a.m. When they arrived, they found the stolen car in an alleyway. Four males fled on foot from the car when they approached the car. After a brief chase, they were arrested. A shotgun was found on the floor of the car.

A 15-year old, a 17-year old, a 16-year old, and a 14-year old were all arrested. The 15-year old is charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle, resisting arrest, and obstructing an officer. The 17-year old is charged with unlawful use of a weapon, violation of a firearm’s owner identification card act, unlawful possession of a stolen auto, and criminal trespass to a vehicle. The 16-year old was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, violation of the firearm’s owner identification card act, unlawful possession of a stolen auto, criminal trespass to vehicle, possession of heroin with the intent to deliver, and possession of cocaine with the intent to deliver. The 14-year old is charged with resisting arrest and obstructing justice.
