FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) -- Friends Forever Humane Society in Freeport was impacted by the recent storms.

Staff from Friends Forever found the shelter completely flooded this morning from last night's storms. The shelter holds nearly 10 dogs and almost 60 cats and kittens. The animals were not affected by the flooding. Staff of the shelter worked to clear the water from the building. Many people brought in donations, paper towels and fans to help Friends Forever clean up the space.

"It's been so heartwarming. I mean, there's been some tears. It's just..the community has just pulled together with donations and with coming up and helping slosh mud..it's just been heartwarming," said vice president of Friends Forever Humane Society, Jodie Modica.
