MACHESNEY PARK, Ill. (WIFR) - A Machesney Park family loses one of their dogs to a garage fire Monday morning.
North Park Fire Department says the fire started just before 8:45 a.m. in at 213 Winona Drive.
Crews say the home's detached garage fire was extinguished with the help of seven agencies after a MABAS alarm was issued.
The back of the home and attic did have some damage but crews say the family will be able to stay in their home.
One of the family's dogs did survive the fire, no one else was injured.
North Park Fire Department says there is $60,000 worth of damage to the home and Red Cross is working with the family. At this time the cause of the fire is undetermined.
