The Rockford Ski Broncs are bringing the 2017 Indmar Marines Engines Division 1 Show Ski National Champions to the Rock River.

The national tournament will be held Friday-Sunday, August 11-13 at Shorewood Park in Loves Park. This is the Ski Broncs' ninth time hosting the tournament where 14 teams and individual skiers will come to compete in choreographer and competitive performances.

The event is estimated to bring $210,000 in economic growth and book 1,600 hotel rooms in the Rockford region. Teams from Wisconsin, Florida, Indiana, Minnesota and other parts of the country are expected to participate.

"We hope our visitors enjoy the competition and the Rockford region," said John Groh, president and CEO of the Rockford Area Visitors and Convention Bureau.

Show skiing typically features several acts choreographed to music while telling a story. In competitive shows, each club is given an hour to present theatrical performance on water skis. The acts are scored by judges who award points based on originality, presentation and execution.

"We bring in teams from across the country to our beautiful Rock River venue and have the chance to show off our community. It's a big win to host these events," said Steve King, president of the Ski Broncs.

Admission is free and all competitions will be held at Shorewood Park,235 Evelyn Ave., Loves Park, IL 61111.
