MACHESNEY PARK, Ill. (WIFR) -- Kids with autism will have a new place to learn as Easterseals opens their new facility in Machesney Park.
The nearly 28,000 square foot building on Mitchell Road in Machesney Park will add room for 90 new students in the Easterseals Academy, bringing with it 30 new spots for staff.
The new building also has a full size gym, stage, playground, as well as space for art, PE classes, and job training.
Easterseals Academy Principal Jacque Ruch says the academy is already feeling welcomed in Machesney Park.
"We do a lot of instruction out in the community, community based instruction, so we're really anxious to partner with new partners here. We've already started making new connections in the new community that are welcoming our students into their stores and retail establishments and industrial establishments to gain job training," says Ruch.
